This week, we covered the following:

1. Story of Prophet Salih
2. Rule of Lam in the exalted name of Allah
3. Few facts about the numbering system of Uthman Taha Mushhaf
4. Difference between the letter Hamza and ‘Ain

Homework:
1. Sunday: Answer the Question: What did the people of Thamud believe in? and what did they demand from Prophet Salih?
2. Monday: Word by word recitation of Surah Naba: v1 – v9
3. Tuesday: Word by word recitation of Surah Naba: v10 – v18
4. Wednesday: Word by word recitation of Surah Naba: v19 – v30

Hope you all are doing well, iA. Brief update on what we’ve covered so far. We finished all the Arabic alphabets last week through different stories, activities and games. We will continue to review them in class each week. We will begin to work on joining letters and words in more detail (to be able to recognize the letters correctly) along with basic rules.

This week, we discussed up to Surah Yasin: verse 29, and how God dealt with both the righteous witness who calls his people to the prophets’ message in the next world, and how he deals with the people who reject that message in this world.

Insha’Allah next time we will discuss the earthly signs of God in verses 31-36.

RULE 7:
If Hamzatul Wasl is preceded by the long vowel Alif Madd, Alif Madd will not be stretched and the letter before it will be recited like a short vowel so it can be connected with the letter after Hamzatul Wasl (considering the sun and moon letters).

RULE 8:
If Hamzatul Wasl is preceded by the long vowel Ya Madd, it will become silent. The letter before Ya will be read like a short vowel and will be connected with the letter after Hamzatul Wasl (considering the sun and moon letters).

Quran Assessment Test Friday, Oct 27th & Friday, Nov 3rd 2023

There will be a mandatory Quran assessment for all the students on Friday, Oct 27th, and Friday, Nov 3rd.

This test will help us monitor each student’s progress and revise their learning goals for this semester. The students will be given a “Review Test” on Thursday to guide them and help them familiarize with the format of Friday’s Test.

Please review the following topics with your child(ren) for Friday, Oct 27th:

1. Heavy Letters and their correct Makharij.
2. Heavy & Light ل in Allah and Allahum.
3. Short Vowels (Fatha, Dhammah & Kasrah)
4. Long Vowels (Alif Madd, Wow Madd & Ya Madd).
5. Letters of Qalqalah.
6. Tanween (Fathatain, Dhammatain & Kasratain).

The kids can practice with the Quran and also through the previous homework posted in the group.

This week, we studied
1. The rules of Alif after the last Wow
2. The sun letters
3. Story of Prophet Hud and the city of Iram

Also, beginning this week I will be sending them a few simple questions related to the stories we talk from the Quran.

For this week’s homework:
1. Sunday – Answer this question:
– Why were the people of Prophet Hud so proud and what was their punishment
2. Monday – letter by letter recitation of Surah Naba v1-10
3. Tuesday – v11-20
4. Wednesday – v21-30

I will be testing them with the heavy letters again next week.

RULE 6*:
Alif becomes silent if it comes after the last word ending with the letter wow.

Message of the Quran

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًۭا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌۭ فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُۥ حَيَوٰةًۭ طَيِّبَةًۭ ۖ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ ٩٧
Whoever does good, whether male or female, and is a believer, We will surely bless them with a pure life, and We will certainly reward them according to the best of their deeds.
