RULE 4:
Hamzah appears in different forms in the Quran.

RULE 5:
Whenever Hamzatul Wasl ٱ‎ comes between two words, it will not be recited. It acts like a glue and joins the letter before and after it.

I tested the kids yesterday and Alhamdulillah I saw a huge jump in the quality of the recitations.

This is just the setting of the foundation. Alhamdulillah, the kids are now able to follow the lessons and all of us are on the same page.

I would request you to keep sending in the recitations regularly.

Also, beginning this week I will be sending them a few simple questions related to the stories we talk from the Quran.

Eid Milad An Nabi mubarak to you all.

We celebrated Prophet Mohammad(s)’s birth anniversary on Friday. The kids listened to a story about Prophet Muhamamd(s), and one student shared beautiful persian poetry about our beloved Prophet(s). We concluded the class with kids decorating and enjoying Masjide Nabvi shaped cookies in class.

*Session 14 & 15 Update(Rules For Silent Letters in Quran)

RULE 3:
The letter و becomes silent when there’s a standing Alif on top of it. The letter before و is stretched for 2 harakahs count.

Surah Al-Anbya Verse 107

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةًۭ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ١٠٧
“We have sent you ˹O Prophet˺ only as a mercy for the whole world.”

Days 8/9:
Starting with the salam song, sign language for saying salam ayah, we focused on Bismillah and the 2nd ayah of Surah Al Fateha.
Letters Daal for Du’a and Dhaal for Dhikr were introduced through the story Caterpillar’s Wish and how Allah listens to our du’as.
Letters Ra and Za were introduced through the story of Ramadan and Zakat.

Days 10/11:
After the arrival activities, reviewing all previous letters, Seen and Sheen were introduced through the story of Sajdah and Shukr.
Letters Sawd and Dawd were also introduced. Kids tried writing the letters and played bingo game as part of the reviewing activity.

On Thursday, we reviewed each student’s homework in class and gave them feedback on their recitations.

This week, we learned about the concepts of Silent Letters (و ا ل ى ).

Rule1:
Whenever there is a standing الف over ی, the ی becomes silent, and the standing Alif is pronounced. E.g. موسیٰ is pronounced as موسا.

Rule 2:
Whenever there is a standing الف on top of a pointed tooth, it is recited as a Madd. E.g. فَسَوَّىٰهَا is pronounced as فَسَوَّاهَا

Next class, we will continue with “Silent Letters”, inshaAllah.

Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 186

وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِى عَنِّى فَإِنِّى قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ ٱلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ ۖ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِى وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِى لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ
“When My servants ask you (O Prophet) about Me: I am truly near.
I respond to one’s prayer when they call upon Me.
So let them respond (with obedience) to Me and believe in Me,
perhaps they will be guided (to the Right Way).”
