On Thursday, we reviewed each student’s homework in class and gave them feedback on their recitations.

This week, we learned about the concepts of Ghunna and Leen. After the class lesson, the kids practiced reading words with Ghunna and Leen during the breakout session.

Next class, we will begin our lessons on the “Silent Letters”, inshaAllah.

Homework:
For this week’s homework, please have the kids:

1. Mark and read all the words with Leen in “Surat Al Takasur.” Due by Tuesday 6:00 p.m.

2. Send in the recitation of “Surat Al Naas” by Wednesday 6:00 p.m.

Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 148

فَٱسْتَبِقُوا۟ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ
“So compete with one another in doing good.”

Insha’Allah for this Friday, the students should each identify one oath each from Qur’anic surah, other than Yasin, and divided it into its different parts (the oath itself, and what is being sworn about). (Hint: the last juz’ of the Qur’an is full of oaths, starting with واو).
Also, they should make sure to bring their English translation of the Qur’an.

Days 4/5:
Along with the salam song, sign language for saying salam ayah was introduced and we focused on Bismillah.
Kids used play dough to make the letters Alif, Ba, Ta while reviewing them and the letter Tha was introduced through the story of giving to gain thwaab and Jeem by listening to the story of Proohet Saleh and the Camel.
Kids were assigned pages for 15, 16, 19, 20, 23 and 24 for homework.

Day 6/7:
Last week we started the class with the salam song, the sign language for salam ayah and worked on Bismillah along with the next ayah of Surah al Fateha.
We reviewed all the previous letters and introduced the letters Ha for Hamd and Kha for Khair through stories. We played a memory game of good actions that we should do and a game of recognizing the letters when connected.
Individual assessment of kids were also done. Homework pages assigned 26, 27, 28, 31. Most of the homework pages are fun activities to help reinforce the letters. If for any reason your child doesn’t wanna do them, please don’t insist, we’ll work on them in class, iA

This week, we reviewed the Tanween (Fathatain, Dhammatain & Kasratain). After the class lesson, we had the kids read and practice Tanween from the Quran.

In Class Arba’een Majlis:
We were fortunate enough to commemorate the Arba’een of Imam Hussain(as) in our class on Thursday. The kids expressed their emotions and wishes for what they would do for Imam Hussain(as). They did their pledges while holding a flag of Hadrat Abbas(as) in their hands. Their pledges were innocent and heartfelt, Alhamdulillah.

We concluded with the Zyaarah that we’ve been memorizing.

Surah Al-Isra- Verse 24

وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱرْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِى صَغِيرًا
“My Lord! Be merciful to them (my parents) as they raised me when I was young.”

وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَـٰنًا ۚ
“And be good to your parents.”

Message of the Quran

Surah Al-Baqarah- Verse 195
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
“And do good, for Allah surely loves the good-doers.”

Surah Al-Anfal- Verse 46
وَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ ٤٦
“Persevere! Surely Allah is with those who persevere.”

We learned that if we want to know about our creator Allah Subhan wa Ta’ala, we should read Quran. In Quran, Allah tells us that He loves those who do good. In another verse, Allah mentions that He is with those who do Sabr (perseverance). Sabr is a combination of HOPE, FAITH AND PATIENCE. Students had a great time learning these lessons through a spoon & egg activity. They all tested their patience as they walked with a spoon in their mouth with an egg.

This week, we did a revision of reciting Quranic words with Long Vowels, Sukoon, and Qalqalah. MashaAllah, the kids are advancing at a fast pace, and very soon, we’ll have them start reciting from the Quran.

Zyaarah Recitation:
We have started memorizing a short portion of salutations from Zyaarat Al Ashurah in class, and we’re also discussing the meanings of each line. SubhanAllah, the barakahs of the blessed name of Imam Hussain(as) are so immense that the kids show great enthusiasm in participating and reciting.
